The Country Junction /
Wetaskiwin Co-op was formed in 1917 by a group of progressive individuals who saw the need
for a member owned and operated facility. Since
then, it has faithfully served the community and
its members with quality products, superb customer service and competitive prices while
staying alert to a constantly changing market place.
Our reputation as a prime supplier of
animal nutrition products has grown so that we supply bulk and bagged feed to livestock
producers across all of Alberta and parts of BC and Saskatchewan. In addition we are
home to the Largest Farm Supply Store in Canada and our Falun Branch, which supplies
groceries, hardware, building supplies, feed, cardlock and petroleum products to the Falun
area, is the "Biggest Little Country Store in Canada".
All of us are Committed to the
Community
We provide employment to over 135
individuals making us one of the largest employers in Wetaskiwin and District and together
we are committed to the community and people we serve. The Country Junction provides
facilities, equipment, food and drinks to community groups to host regular
fundraisers. When there is a special need in the community, such as raising money
for the Wetaskiwin Hospital to purchase a CT Scanner or helping a family in need, we can
be counted on to help. In addition we host special community events such as the
Children's Petting Zoo that comes right into the heart of the store to thrill children or
the Tribute to Canadian Armed Forces featuring the Snowbirds spectacular air demonstration
which drew people from all over Alberta.
My, Have We Grown
We started a modest supply co-op that
operated from a box car on a railroad spur in Wetaskiwin. With eighteen months
events unfolded and business grew so rapidly we had to purchase a building on a quiet
corner of Wetaskiwin. The rest is really a fantastic story of co-operation and
loyalty - our history. The
services and facilities eventually expanded to include a home decorating centre, lumber
yard, feed mill, cardlock, and bulk petroleum division. In 2002 these divisions were
combined into one location called The Country Junction,
home to the largest farm supply store in Canada and the largest
building supplier in the Wetaskiwin area - it's now the largest co-op in all of North
America. We are very proud to be named the 2004 Business
of the Year by the Wetaskiwin Chamber of Commerce.

brings you Feeds for Thought. We have a complete line of livestock feed and
the ability to custom develop feeds to suit your operation. Our
professional staff will develop a profile of your operation and assist you to design a
feeding program that provides an economical nutritional package, one that ensures optimal
performance and product quality.

Let us provide you with our quality
feed and we'll share our profits with you. Like other Co-operative Associations
across Canada we are supported by our membership represented by a Board of
Directors. As a member of Federated
Co-operatives we are able to access all types of consumer products at competitive
prices and pass these savings on to the members. The profits made by the our Co-op,
including profits from our feed mill, multifaceted retail operations, and the Co-op
refinery (CCRL) in Regina are paid back to the consumer through equity. Anyone can
become a member of the Wetaskiwin Co-op for only $10.00 for a lifetime membership. |
