 Bert
Horvey, General Manager
Bert joined
the Wetaskiwin Co-op Association in 1980 as a Feed Sales Representative. By
1985 he was the Feed and Agro Manager and fittingly was named General Manager in November
of 2001. Bert came to us from Cabri Saskatchewan. He received his Bachelor of
Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan and since has completed
several courses and seminars in agriculture and business. He says, "Its
been a great journey of learning and I don't expect it to end." He has a wealth
of information to share.
When he finds free time, Bert enjoys curling, camping,
fishing, and skiing. Church and family are a meaningful aspect of Bert's life.
Bert has an open door policy and it's not unusual to find him
on the floor of the Country Junction working with staff, Co-op members and customers, so
say "hello" the next time you see him.

 Marno Hultin, Operations Manager
Marno's skills and management experience are a
valuable asset to the Wetaskiwin Co-op. He started with the Coop
system in 1969 as a hardware clerk in Swan River Manitoba. Later,
focused in hardware and furniture, he served in retail co-ops across Western
Canada in a management capacity. He was also general merchandise
marketing manager for the Federated Co-op in both Calgary and Regina before
relocating to the Wetaskiwin area.
After raising two children, he and his wife
now can enjoy their two adorable grandchildren.

 Ron Yaroslawsky,
Country Junction Manager
Ron
worked for the UFA in Brooks for eight years and started with the Wetaskiwin Co-op
more than five
years ago as manager of our retail department. Among his many
responsibilities customer service is one of his main priorities -
he respects Co-op customers and values
his co-workers..
Ron's
and his wife Kyla have one daughter Corbin who keeps them both involved in her many sports
activities. In
his free time Ron's hobbies include hunting, slow-pitch and especially spending time with
his family.

At the
core of Wetaskiwin Co-op Association’s retail and administrative success is
the financial department managed by Donna Oleksin who has enjoyed an
administrative career within the Co-op Retailing System since 1980, since 1997
in Wetaskiwin.

 Clarence Mikalson, Building Projects
Manager
Clarence was raised on the
farm in southern Alberta. In 1994 after 28 years in the Alberta lumber
industry he came to Wetaskiwin Co-op to become our Lumber and Building Supplies
Manager and was quickly promoted to manage the Home Decorating and Home & Garden
Stores. He earned another promotion when all of the Wetaskiwin Co-operative store
locations were consolidated at the Country Junction. If you are a building
contractor he is the man to consult. Give him a call and he'll come out to your site to
look at your plans.
Clarence believes customer service of paramount importance
and like's working directly with customers. "How else can we know what our
members need?"
Clarence is married to Judy and has two daughters. He enjoys
golfing, fishing and curling and also volunteers for the C.O.P. program in Wetaskiwin.

 Dean
Tschirren, Retail Manager
Dean was raised on the family
farm where he now lives. Married happily to wife Heather and the father to tree beautiful
girls aged 11 to 17.
Dean has been involved in agriculture for the vast majority of
his life. He has spent twenty-two years in agriculture retail, beginning in sales and
progressing to a management position.
Whatever your needs -
wood trip to hardware, animal health to grain bins and everything in between, Dean oversees all the functions of the
Retail Department.

 Craig Shulver, Lumber Manager & Estimator
Craig
came from England to Wetaskiwin and started his career with the Co-op 12 years ago.
He is one of our estimators, so you can see Craig for estimates when building a home, garage
or any new buildings or renovations that are needed - siding, windows, doors, roofing,
etc. You will often see Craig on the floor showing customers samples and options of
materials.
Craig is married to Tanya who you might have bumped into at our
local emergency department. They have two children. Of his hobbies Craig enjoys
woodworking most. Craig loves soccer and coaches one of the
local teams in town.

 Jason Otermat,
Estimator
Jason has over seventeen years
experience in the retail builidng materials industry, including eight years
as an estimator. He has a blue-print reading diploma from British
Columbia Institute of Technology. Jason taught manual and computerized
estimating courses for Seljax International Inc. as well as for all of the
Canadian building material associations.
He and his wife Melissa have three children.

 John Reid, Lumber Yard Manager
The Wetaskiwin Co-op Building Supplies division is extremely busy right now
so John is busy keeping the lumber yard running smoothly. When he can take a

 Phoebe, Dry Goods Supervisor
Phoebe grew up on a farm
just outside of Olds, Alberta. She attended Olds College where she studied fashion
merchandizing. Phoebe moved to Edmonton where she worked in several retail
capacities. We are happy to have her expertise in our Dry Goods department.
Phoebe says,
"Whether you need work wear or fashion clothing see us for all your essential
clothing. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the selection, quality and price of
what Co-op has to offer you."
Besides her passion for
fashion retailing Phoebe's family is a high priority in her life.

 Shayne Reid, Home Decorating Supervisor
In his 10 years at the Co-op Shayne has
worked in almost every department, but he specializes in paint, flooring, fireplaces,
pellet heating, hardware and lumber. He is our resident expert in the Home Decorating Centre. A
customer told this writer that she would search for Shayne in the store because she knew
he always had the best solutions to solve her many decorating problems. That's
probably why he has been named as one of the Co-op's most valued team members.
Shayne is married to Dea and in his
free time during the summer Shayne enjoys hunting, quadding, fishing, and golfing - his
winter fun is curling.

 Dennis
Steil, Agro Building Materials
Born on
a farm near Heisler, Alberta Dennis has been in the farm industry since 1976. He has
acquired his CCA (an Agronomy Designation) and specializes in farm inputs. He also handles
the estimates for farm buildings and grain bins. Before moving to Wetaskiwin Co-op
in 2002 Dennis spent many years with the UFA Farm Supply outlet
He lives near Bashaw with his wife Deborah and is very proud
of his two sons and one daughter. Dennis is especially close to his grandchildren.
Motorcycles, horses and hunting take up much of his off duty time. He looks forward to
meeting new customers and ask that you don't hesitate to talk to him about your farm
needs.

 John Mah - Petroleum Sales
Manager
John, a
long time resident of Wetaskiwin, has been with the Co-op Petroleum Division for
over ten
years. To stay current with an ever changing petroleum industry John says he is in
"ongoing training". As the father of two children he somehow finds
time to also pursue a passion for building and racing remote control airplanes and cars.
Whether you have a farm or commercial operation John would be happy to come and
discuss your petroleum needs and show you the financial and performance benefits of using

 Bernie Grumpelt, M.Sc.
Nutritionist & Feed Department Manager
Raised on a dairy and grain farm in Manitoba,
Bernie has been with the Co-op organization for over fifteen years,
over seven with Wetaskiwin Co-op.
He received his MSc. Degree from the University of Manitoba in Dairy Nutrition.
He says, " Nutrition has been my focus for the past
twenty-two years. Learning more about nutrition and applying that to benefit our customers
and the farming community is the main goal of my endeavour. A great organization
like the Wetaskiwin Country Junction Co-op makes this goal easier to accomplish."
